Your Puppy Check List

  • A black metal dog crate with a plastic tray at the bottom.

    Crate

Puppies need a crate to sleep in.

It is important that the crate fits them properly.

No extra space or they will potty in it.
A 30inch crate for going home or a bigger crate that includes a divider.

  • White fabric pet collar with black plastic buckle and a gold metal ring for leash attachment.

    Collar

    A collar and identification tags.

    Most pups fit 10-13 inches
    or
    a medium size harness.

  • Bag of Purina Pro Plan puppy dog food with a golden retriever puppy on the packaging and a label indicating chicken and rice formula.

    Puppy Food

We have started your puppy on Purina Pro Plan Chicken and Rice puppy food.

Food can be found at Pet Smart, Pet Value, Pet Land.

If you do switch your puppy’s food please do it slowly over a week.
Make sure your puppy is on puppy food till one year old.

  • Pee Pad

    Pee pads

Your puppy is trained to go on pee pads when outside is not available.
When you first get your pup it's a good idea to use them while working on making it outside.
Especially if you have to leave for more than a couple hours.
Make sure to have pee pads on hand.

  • A black metal dog playpen with multiple panels connected together.

    Pen

A wire playpen to keep your puppy in.
When you cannot watch your puppy he/she should be in a pen.
Do not let your puppy have free reign of your house at the beginning.
They can play they can sleep and have room to run around.
    This is an ideal setup.
**Note** Make sure you get one that is tall for your growing puppy.

  • Two folded pink fabric pieces with black paw print patterns and white stitched diamond shapes.

    Washable Pad

Washable pee pads come in handy for protecting your floor. They are water proof and they work!

  • Gray fuzzy dog bed with raised edges and indented center

    Dog Bed

For dog beds I recommend a soft towel or blanket until they can be trusted.

Costco has nice beds for puppies.

Don't put the bed in the crate. They will pee on it.

  • Package of Bully Sticks dog treats with five beef sticks visible, one stick outside the package.

    Treats

Lots of chew things for your puppy!
Your puppy will be getting new teeth and will need to chew on something.
Make sure it’s not your furniture by providing lots of toys.
Avoid rawhide bones and watch your puppy with string toys/teddies.
Costco had awesome bones and beef-dried treats.

  • Black dog leash with metal clip.

    Leash & Recall Leash

This leash is perfect for when you are out exploring and your pup wants to wander around. Let your pup sniff but have the security of the long leash to be able to grab at any point.
Also this leash helps with training recall.

  • Black KONG dog toy with three round segments.

    Toys

I really like anything Kong brand. The toys last and are good quality.
I would also buy some dog puzzles or snuffle mats. Something to stimulate your puppies brain.

  • Two bottles of Cowboy Magic Rosewater shampoo and conditioner with labels indicating ingredients like silk, panthenol, and honey.

    Shampoo & Conditioner

Your puppy will need Shampoo and Conditioner.

  • A black and white braided dog leash and collar set with leather accents and a 'Friends Forever' tag, displayed on a white background with a variety of colorful braided dog leashes below.

    Slip Leash

Slip Leads are by far the best.
You can buy one on Amazon.
